Kathakwa

Kathakwa Factory, part of the long-standing Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society, sits on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya, sourcing cherry from more than 1,000 smallholder farmers across the Embu–Kirinyaga border. Ripe cherry is delivered daily and processed using traditional Kenyan disc depulpers, followed by 24-hour wet fermentation and a clean-water soak to ensure thorough mucilage removal and clarity in the cup.
